Meet Alex
Alex Alafair weaves light through the darkest of tales, where becoming who you’re meant to be always comes at a cost.
About Alex Alafair
Alexandra is a graduate of Fordham University’s rigorous creative writing program. She has two completed dark fantasy manuscripts. Her books focus on dark relationship dynamics, complex trauma, and facing inner demons. When she’s not managing her special education classroom or crafting morally grey characters, she practices witchcraft, reads dark romance, and levels up her D&D twilight cleric.
Her Journey
Alexandra’s first story told of a dark fairy who twisted beauty to reflect the truth beneath it. It was folded up in pages in her parents old real estate office, and lost somewhere to the Brooklyn air. She spent years chasing similar ideas—filling notebooks with poetry and lyrics, each one a fragment of her conceptions of beauty in a skewed world. However, the writer’s quest did not follow a linear path. A hurricane claimed her first collection of poetry to the sea and a flood destroyed the manuscripts that followed—spy thrillers and detective narratives she proudly completed. So she began again, and again. And each time, her work grew darker, sharper, until it led her back to where it all started: fantasy.
